2. _C_o_n_f_i_g_u_r_a_t_i_o_n__I_n_f_o_r_m_a_t_i_o_n
Installing the VideoLab software creates the
/_u_s_r/_g_f_x/_u_c_o_d_e/_v_o_f/_v_l_i and /_u_s_r/_v_i_d_e_o/_v_l_i directories.
The _v_l_i._s_w._d_e_m_o_s image installs _b_u_t_t_o_n_f_l_y menu files into
the /_u_s_r/_d_e_m_o_s directory, which are useful only if the
standard _e_o_e_2._s_w._d_e_m_o_s subsystem (which contains the
_b_u_t_t_o_n_f_l_y executable) has already been installed.
To configure the demos to run in 525/60 Hz timing or 625/50
Hz timing, a system defaults button has been provided to
allow you to establish the default operation of the demos on
your system (you must be logged into the demos account to
have the proper write permissions on the setup file). The
demos will default to the 525/60 Hz mode as shipped.
The VideoLab breakout box provides several connectors which
are intended for future expansion; these include those in
the areas labelled _L_O_O_P and _V_T_R _C_N_T_R_L _O_U_T (with the
exception of the _s_y_n_c loop through connectors), and the
composite video connectors labelled _C_O_M_P and _S-_V_I_D_E_O in the
areas labelled _I_N and _O_U_T.
VideoLab does not provide an integral VideoMedia V-LAN
transmitter. Instead, we have provided several programs
that provide an interface to the RS-232 based VideoMedia V-
LAN transmitters. These programs comprise a portion of the
_v_l_a_n_2_3_2 image. In particular, the executable _v_l_a_n_2_3_2_c_m_d and
the shell script _v_l_a_n._d_e_m_o are installed to
/_u_s_r/_v_i_d_e_o/_v_l_a_n_2_3_2/_b_i_n. The _v_l_a_n._d_e_m_o script provides an
example of how to use a VideoMedia device control network
with the VideoLab to produce frame-by-frame animation.
Certain demos require particular hardware configurations;
the demos test to see if the hardware capability is present
and if it is not, they exit with an error message detailing
the requirement. For example, the motion tracking demo _s_p_o_t
requires an alpha bitplane option.
